UPLBFI opens Annex Building
Houses conference room and cafeteria

The UPLBFI Annex Building was formally opened through a blessing ceremony last November 7, 2014. It coincided with the grand opening of the University Cafeteria managed by the College of Human Ecology (CHE).

The event was graced by Dr. Rex Victor O. Cruz, former Chancellor of UPLB and President of UPLBFI; Dr. Cecilio R. Arboleda, UPLBFI Executive Director; Dr. Marites G. Yee, Dean of CHE; and other key officials of the University.

The Annex Building

Designed to be integrated in the old UPLBFI building, the construction started last July 6, 2013 and was finished around July 2014. The building measures 385 sq m and costs around Php 7.2 million.

The Annex Building has three levels: 1) the basement which serves as vehicle parking, additional file storage space, and carpentry-repair workshop; 2) the first floor which houses the University Cafeteria; and 3) the second floor which serves as a conference room.

The conference room which can accommodate 35-40 seats is now being used as meeting and workshop venue by UPLBFI staff and project teams.

The University Cafeteria

The establishment of the cafeteria was initiated by the CHE Dean, Dr. Marites G. Yee. It was made possible through a funding loan granted by UPLBFI.

The cafeteria aims to provide nutritious, palatable, safe and aesthetically acceptable meals to the UPLB community and visitors. Menu includes pasta, salad, coffee, freshly squeezed juices and featured viand of the day. It will also showcase in the future the various food products made by UPLB units.

Further, the cafeteria shall serve as management, production, entrepreneurship and research training for the students and faculty.

At present, the cafeteria operates Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Meanwhile, the space provided for the cafeteria, free of charge, is UPLBFI’s response to the memorandum that it shall allocate 25% of its space/building to the University. (AFBJamias)
