MOA Signing Between GFVI and UPLBFI
April 16, 2026
UPLBFI and GFVI have formalized a new research partnership aimed at advancing sustainable silage processing technologies.
The Golden Forage Ventures, Inc. (GFVI) and the University of the Philippines Los Baños Foundation, Inc. (UPLBFI) signed a Research Grant Agreement (RGA) for the project titled “Solar-First Dispatch and Load Sequencing for Battery-less Solar-Diesel Hybrid Silage Processing” on April 14, 2026, at the UPLBFI Board Room. The project will be led by Engr. Emmanuel Q. Amatorio of the College of Agriculture and Food Science – Central Experiment Station (CAFS-CES).
The study seeks to address a critical gap by developing and evaluating an optimization framework for battery-less solar-diesel hybrid silage processing. It is designed to: (a) prioritize diesel dispatch only when solar energy and operational constraints necessitate it (solar-first), and (b) optimize the sequencing and scheduling of silage processing loads to reduce diesel fuel consumption and generator stress, while ensuring required throughput and process quality.

President and CEO Pat Erick Buna signed the agreement on behalf of GFVI, while Executive Director Enrico P. Supangco represented UPLBFI. The agreement signing was witnessed by CAFS Dean Amado A. Angeles and Mr. Paul Alan Brucal of GFVI.
Also in attendance were Mr. Cyrus Pelayo of GFVI, along with UR Ayie Latayan and Admin Jolo Magpantay from the CAFS Dean’s Office.
